In terms of modern movies, I love The Princess Bride. For older movies I love both Casa Blanca and Gone With the Wind. All three have elements of action, romance, adventure, and they are all funny in parts, but the comedy doesn't overwhelm the movie's plot.

There are so many. I like true stories of people who overcame tremendous adversity. "Amazing Grace" William Fullbright is the lone voice in the British parliament who wants an end to the slave trade of the late 18th and 19th centuries. I like good slapstick with a good amount of reality. The Money Pit, with Tom Hanks and Shelley Long. "Quick pour me some scotch and write me a check". Movies with justice, as in "The Shawshank Redemption".

Moulin Rouge, because it's about true love "that will live forever" and it's very romantic. The songs in the movie are also great ("Nature Boy"; "Come What May"; "Tango de Roxanne" etc.) What I don't like about Moulin Rouge is that I always cry in the end. But still it's my favorite movie :-)

The Transformers: The Movie. Loved it when I went to see it in 1986, and I still love it. My favorite cartoon.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I love Monty Python's Flying Circus and I've seen that movie at least 20 times and it never stops being funny.
