I would like to say that it was, but i'm not sure. I know that I enjoyed christmas more as a child, maybe because I didn't have to put so much work into things. Or maybe I just didn't see it as work back then. Shopping decorating, and baking were fun things I did with my family, and now they are stressful and lonely experiences.

Yes. Every year we would get together at my grandparents house and since I come from a hispanic culture, we would have tamales, bunuelos, and of course the ham. Everyone would bring their gifts over and wait till midnight to open them. We would have Christmas carols playing in the background and there would be this feeling of love and togetherness. It all ended when I was about 14, when my grandmother had a heart attack and was never the same again. Now its just me and my kids. Although I invite my mom and sister over for a turkey or ham, its not the same. I get stressed out over the cooking, cleaning, the kids fighting, my husband drinking too much, well there is always something. I miss my youth. My parents use to take me to the church Christmas pageant, or the nut cracker play. It was fun. I wish I could give my kids those memories. I think that maybe next year I should start giving my kids those memories too.

No.. it's just as meaningful now, but in a different way. Now I get to see the magic in my son's eyes on Christmas and do all the work. I love it and it makes me feel like a kid again! Best Wishes!

YES! I remember being a kid and not being able to sleep Christmas Eve night because I was so excited about Santa coming and opening gifts! Now I'm 25 and live with my boyfriend, but I'm still looking forward to waking up, making a delicious breakfast and exchanging gifts but it was definitely more meaningful when I was a kid.

I think it was more exciting when I believed in Santa. Nothing like the anticipation of going to bed and hoping that he would come while I was asleep. When I was growing up there was less commercialization and children had fewer choices of what they could get. People spent less money and children expected less. It was more about traditions, family and church celebrations.

Maybe more exciting but it becomes more meaningful as an adult. I think it's become way too materialistic.
