I dont think it will. He talked about it in his book, and has been completely open about it. People are fine with long ago drug use as long as your not hiding it.
Bush was an alcoholic. but he was open about it, and it a way I think he got support the first election because he cleaned himself up and it showed a side of him being human. He only got some trouble when the story about his past DUI came out a few days before the election. Also is when Bill Clinton got hurt with did his "i did not inhale" comment.
These things only hurt you if you try to cover them up and lie. If your open about them and you have put it passed you, then I think it actually helps you.

No. I doubt very seriously there is a perfect individual out there who hasn't committed a single sin or something they are ashamed of by the time they reach adulthood. You've got these stupid kids posting naked pictures, drunken behavior, stupid antics, fights.....etc. on the internet. They can't think beyond the moment and just to think this is our countries future? Can't wait to see those shown when they are adults running for anything. LOL People make mistakes......can't club them forever for it. Atleast Obama was honest and up-front about it and doesn't do it anymore. He who is without sin cast the first stone. Getting high when you were young doesn't phase me. Hiding income in off shore banks, illegal business deals and pay offs as an adult does.

Some arrogant prigs might hold that against him. Normal, sane thinking people realize that the past is gone. We have had two presidents in a row now that have at least tried drugs in their earlier years one was a fairly good president and the other really bad. In either case I doubt the past experiments with drugs had much bearing on decisions made during their presidency.

I doubt it. Most fair minded Americans will not hold a person responsible for his actions as a teenager, nor should they. It is interesting to see the desperate Clinton campaign attempting to smear Obama with unfounded allegation of Obama being a drug dealer. Just another reason to shun her.

There is probably no U.S. citizen under 80 years old who has not experimented with drugs at some point.
The only requirement should be that the person not be actively addicted to something NOW.

Depends on how much hay the Hillary campaign can make out of it.
Right now, they are doing their best to submarine Obama and Edwards.

I think the public appreciates the fact that he is open about his history. The alternative is Bill Clinton's "I didn't inhale" nonsense.... everyone knows that everyone does drugs, even if only alcohol or tobacco... both of which are legal and consume far more lives. Pot doesn't kill anyone.
Hopefully this trend continues and maybe, I dunno, we could finally end this destructive, wasteful, idiotic war on drugs.

I doubt this will be a major issue standing in the way of support. But I'm sure that certain people who like to keep bringing it up and posting about it would like for it to be.

Obama told the truth about it. Bush tried to sweep his drug use under the carpet and he still got elected.
