Trust your instincts, they're all stupid. The only reality is your own life, and you don't need a TV to watch that. You just need a mirror.
Where's the "reality" in having multiple camera crews following you around 24/7, creating controversies, scripting dialog, and manipulating the end result. Real life doesn't get edited.
These shows cultivate and expose all the bad things about human nature; greed, selfishness, pride, and vanity. Count how many times the contestants refer to how they will do this, or they deserve that. It's all me, me, me. The level of self-absorbtion and complete lack of humility is stunning. They should be humilated and embarrased, but it's obvious from their behavior that those thoughts never enter their minds.

I love Survivor and Amazing Race. Even though the cameras are there they can be some distance from the contestants and often hidden. People are going to be people even if they are being watched. I love watching the human interaction. I have also liked Big Brother but last season got out of hand as far as I am concerned. I hope that the producers set some new boundaries.

Project Runway and The Amazing Race are the only ones I watch. I did watch Flipping Out a while back. The star of this show made me realize that there are some real strange people out there. I would hate to see he and Jonathan, the Beverly Hills hair stylist get together. There would not be a room big enough for their egos.

The Big Brother/Survivor type of reality shows are getting old to me, but I still watch the profession based ones like Project Runway and Hell's Kitchen and even The Ultimate Fighter. Those give you some insight into what it takes to be great at those professions as well as all the drama and competition.

I really enjoyed watching "Kid Nation" this year. It was a different type of show and gave me more insight to kids as they are today. I noticed, (for the most part) they are really no different then when I was their age.
I have to confess to watching Survivor. The first year I refused to watch it. A friend suggested I try it, and I have been hooked ever since. That is the only one I watch with the exception of the Kid Nation. Survivor is kinda going down the tubes for me as well. I did not like this year's episode at all.

I only like Top Chef & Project Runway. I think what makes them different for me is that the contestants do not require model bodies and dramatic tendencies, rather they are required to have a talent, skill, and be creative under pressure. Like in the real world. These are people that actually kick *** and create something, every show, every time. If it sucks, they get the boot, if not, they can move on. Also, I like textile arts, and cooking.

I like the talent ones like American Idol and Dancing with the Stars. The Clash of the Choirs is fun. It's limited and only on this week I think. I dislike the "relationship" ones and the
"do stupid stuff and try not to get hurt" ones. My VERY favorite one is Meerkat Manor. Now, THAT's reality!

I just love them! Dancing With The Stars, American Idol,
In fact I like almost all of them except Hells Kitchen, ( if I wanted to hear some crazy fool screaming and yelling I would have stayed with my ex). I don't care much for Biggest Loser either but I do love the way it changes peoples lives. Now there are some new ones starting in January. Yipeee!!!!

I view reality shows as big brother corporations telling us that we need to get a life...so here...watch these bunch of losers try to win something big so your puny little life will have some sort of meaning.
Obviously...no I don't watch nor enjoy hearing about reality TV.
