Absolutely not! Schools have a not tolerance policy not when it comes to violence and touching. Last year my son was in first grade, if the kids so much as pretended to trip each other they were sent to the principals office, due to this policy. Have you heard about the schools in the news where kids are being suspended for hugging their friends on school property? It's a big issue in schools right now. Talk to you granddaughters principal and go higher up if needed, but I doubt you'll need to. This person obviously shouldn't be teaching children, and I'm so sorry that your granddaughter & her classmates are having such an awful experience at school. It's so sad that a teacher would ruin any childs experiene with the arts.
Good Luck, and please contact the school!

This should be reported not just because of the spanking threat but the principal should know what is going on in art class and seek means to change things.

First, the male art teacher can not spank a child unless he wants to be arrested for assault and battery.
Secondly, the femal art teacher must be reported. It sounds like she is losing her grip with reality, and her students should not be subjected to her emotional meltdowns.

This needs to be reported to the school....the art teacher is NOT their father! He has no right to spank any one. And the female art teacher needs a sabbatical and counseling.

teachers are the mother and father whilst they are in school but that does not give them the right to lay a finger on the child it is against the law.if the teacher does smack a child that teacher can be sued for molestation to a child in there care so the answer is NO THEY CANNOT TOUCH A CHILD
hope this clears the matter up for you

no, thats acctually illegal. Report it to the school board and tell them what happened. But first make sure that your daughter is telling the truth. she may be exaggerating and such. But the thing is why would she make something up like that... report it.

It depends on where you live. In some areas it's still legal, believe it or not. Unless it's changed recently, it's still legal in Tennessee and some other Southern states. (One of several reasons I chose to home school.)

No, Not unless someone signed a release form. i suspect a law suit otherwise.
especially if a male did it to a female. i would think that would be some kind of child predator abuse thing. if he's touching under age girls butts.

If it is a public school, I don't think the teacher can touch the children, but a private school is different. I think private schools have more latitude as to the discipline they can dispense as far as discipline.

Anyone can smack someone on the behind. The question is whether they are arrested for assault afterwards.
