Person of the Year is merely an honor bestowed on the most newsworthy person of that year from the magazine's editorial perspective -- they make clear that the award is not an endorsement or even an implication that the person in question is a "good guy."

Note that previous "winners" include Hitler, Stalin and GWB.

Archduke is correct but it is sad that people like Stalin, Putin and Hitler having to be, in any way, connected to GWB.

I think JK Rowling should have won it, the runner up. She got more kids to read then any other author n our lifetime and finished her 7 book series this year with record sales.

As they took great pains to explain... being person of the year.. on the cover,,, does not mean he was the greatest person of the year.. it means he was the most controversial. So no problem.
