Was my grandson at your house? I am so sorry, I have told him to stop picking the flowers but he thinks they are so pretty. We will be over to replant as soon as he is out of school. Again, I am so very sorry.

It's winter, so most of our flowers have died. We do have flowers in the gift shops, that are lovely and make wonderful gifts this time of year, or simply a table decoration. I have seen many a silk flower arrangement that is very life-like, and perhaps better for those of us who cannot afford fresh flowers all the time, or are housebound, and don't want to fuss with walking to the market every week.

Where have all the graveyards gone? Covered with flowers every one. When will we ever learn?
Wow.....haven't heard that one in a long time, brings back a lot of memories. Sad thing is, here we are 46 years later n still burying our young soldiers. Such a beautiful song. Thanks Gin - have a star.

I love that song, but I'll never be able to listen to it without tears. Lost a beloved brother-in-law, as well as friends, in Viet Nam. Watched my mother's hands shake as she checked the daily paper for the draft numbers to see if any of her three sons were going to be "picked"; she lost her own brother in WWII. Remember the fear I felt when I gave birth to my own son in 1975, and again 18 years later when he joined the Army, and again a few years after when he reenlisted after 9/11. Now my nephews and the sons and grandsons of my friends are in Iraq. All politics aside, we love our young men and women, and pray for their safety, and wish there were other ways to solve our problems.

Like good men everywhere. I didn't like most of the "protest" songs from the 60s and early 70s, but I did like this one.
