Chances are that no one is going to cash the money order. You will either have to drive to your bank to deposit it, or mail it to your bank for deposit. There are too many counterfeit money orders and banks are losing money by cashing them that most banks require them to be deposited and completely clear before they allow the money to be available.

Someone mentioned Walmart. Well, my local Walmart will only cash local paychecks and government checks.

Take the money order to any bank. You may have to pay a fee for cashing it. The alternative is to endorse it with "for deposit only" and mail it to your own bank. You should also be able to spend it in a store and get change back for what you don't buy.

If there is a bank in your town, it should be able to cash it whether you are an account holder or not. They may charge a small fee, but at least they will cash it.

See if the local grocery store might cash it...
Also do you have a cash advance store there..I have heard they will cash checks ...so a money order should be easier than a check.

Many stores will cash it, particularly if you spend a portion. Example, my grocery store would cash it if you spend 10% of it there. Wal-Mart will too, but I don't know what their percentage is.

Can't you just go into another branch of your bank, and pay it into your account?
