I thought they only banned gay leaders, but I did a little research and found this article about it that they ban anyone homosexual from participating regardless of how you would be a part of the "club"
http://www.bsa-discrimination.org/html/boy_scout_closet_.html
Guess I have more reason to not support the Boy Scouts. Got to love a group that believes:
"A Scout is a friend to all. He is a brother to other Scouts. He seeks to understand others. He respects those with ideas and customs that are different from his own."
You know, unless you happen to be homosexual, then you are a spawn of the devil trying to lure others into your hideous beliefs.

The whole boy-scouts discriminating against someone for being a gay is ridiculous. I was in boy-scouts when I was a teen, before I came out. I was friends and went to school with most everyone in my group. (Some new I was gay, and didn't care). Yea the boy-scouts can discriminate against gay kids, but they also won't get federal funding if they do. To all you people making comments calling the kid asking "sick" etc. F*ck you and the horse you rode in on.

you can try, but i think once they find out, they will frown at the idea. its a very tight community of friends, associates and members. good luck, but try to venture on to another organization if you can. the boyscouts of america has made it very clear that they do not want any type of homosexual members. good luck buddy

In February 2002, in response to a resolution introduced at the last BSA annual meeting of the National Council, the BSA Executive Board issued it's own resolution reaffirming their position on excluding gay youth/adults from the BSA in very clear terms.
Both boy scouts and girl scouts have the don't ask, don't tell policy

Sure you can - but you have to stay "in the tent" (pardon the humor). You can't let on that you are gay or they will kick you out faster than you can say Lance Bass.
"Don't ask - Don't tell" is a good way to think of it.

You want to be a leader, or a member? If you want to be a leader I don't think you should do it because you might find yourself wanting to take advantage of the situation..if you're a young boy and want to be a member, just to be a member, then I think it's okay but I wouldn't go broadcasting the fact that you're homosexual around other members.

Why don't you be straight. You can come out of homosexuality. Homosexuality is not normal or right. The Bible says so. Also, there is this site with hundreds of testimonies about former homosexuals. www.stonewallrevisited.com

yes you can. I am scout leader and would never turn away a boy because of his preference. No one should ask you that question anyway. its like the army dont ask dont tell and if you do get crap for it from fellow scouts tell your leader. if he is responsible he will stop it in its tracks.

Sadly, I don't think you can get a badge for that.
That comes later! Enjoy the scouts, make friends and have lots of fun.
Good Luck.
