When my ex was away at ROTC summer camp some of us wives got together and they were all talking about wanting to smoke a joint. I was very young and very naive and didn't have a clue what they were talking about, so I just stayed quiet and didn't say a thing. A few moments later somebody said "I wouldn' t even mind smoking a roach." With that, I just couldn't stay silent any longer and I said "WHY would anybody want to smoke a roach?" I was horrified. Well, then they explained to me what they were talking about, but since they didn't have any I wasn't offered any, and didn't get to try it until I moved to Miami when I was 24 (1973) and my Mother's brother-in-law offered me a joint--and I tried it! After that he sold it to me and the last time I bought any it was $30 an oz. Recently somebody tried to sell me some and when he said "$300" for an oz I nearly dropped dead of a heart attack. I can't afford that for pot! And I make a heck of a lot more today than I did in the '70s. What's happened to the price of marijuana? How does anybody afford it anymore? What am I doing wrong?

Ii was offered my first joint 35 years ago. I was at college and went to the college library to read up on the affects of smoking dope before trying the drug, all the academic books said there would be no harm. I then indulged in dope for about 7 years before I had a very bad nervous breakdown. nowadays, I would be informed of the psychological affects and wouldn't have tried. ps, breakdown made me a much stronger person, although I'd rather not gone through it, two years of hell. As an aside, what has this question to do with ethics?

31 years ago. Didn't catch a buzz the first time but the second time I did and ever since. My greatest revelation was when a non-user told me "you're so dumb, you don't even know why it's illegal". That put me on the path to great enlightenment, I went back to the beginning. I found the reasons to be greed, economic strife, the good ol'boy network and racism. It was all about Hemp not THC.
Amazing, just like people without kids are the greatest authority on raising kids, those that have absolutely no experience with Cannabis think that they know all about it. Isn't that a bit like a woman telling a man what it feels like to be kicked in the jewels?

I was 14 when I was first offered a joint...I refused.
By the time I was exposed to it again I was an athlete subject to regular drug testing, so I never tried it through college.
Most of the jobs I have held since then have included some type of drug screening, but honestly I think I've outgrown any curiosity in trying it anyway. I'm content with alcohol and video games as my mood-altering substances of choice...

Almost 16 when I had my first puff with a mate, had been keen to try it, loved it, laughed my *** off. Smoked most weekends then when I was 17 I started smoking it every day (solid), stayed stoned til I was about 21, then went back to smoking frequently but not every day. Now I only smoke really good quality weed, I get enough for me an a few mates to get really high, then we all start tripping and chill out until we fall asleep, and then do it again a few weeks later. Love it love it love it!!

I was 16 and in college. We used to go round the back and have a spliff in between lessons. Then we'd sometimes smoke it on the night while drinking. I don't have it anymore I got bored of it. Didn't do a lot for me to be honest I could only really feel it if I was drinking at the same time.

I was 16 and tried it when I was offered as was curious. Was excited and nervous and liked it straightaway. Felt rebellious and interesting and arty. Didn't do it again for a few months. Did it seriously (at least 3 times a week) from 19 - 22 then smoked occasionally, every few months up till my first baby was born. Haven't done it for years.

If you had some of the MJ yourself, and nothing unusual happened to you, then I think you can assume there was nothing wrong with the MJ (i.e. mold, etc.) If the problem was not with the MJ, then there might be something wrong with your friend. He could be allergic to the herbal product or maybe he was so nervous about trying the drug that he experienced the paranoia and panic attack. People metabolize MJ differently, but I have never heard of anyone being unable to sleep after 3 puffs. Maybe your friend should avoid the herb...
