No need to separate the two. Many of my favorite "traditional" names ARE considered "unique" (in the unusual/underused sense) by most. ;)

For instance, the following aren't even among the top 1000 in the states, but all perfectly traditional, classic choices. And many of them would actually fit in quite easily with certain modern trends ... but without being trendy or overused themselves.

Talulla - definitely a lilting, modern feel, despite its classic nature and underuse. Very fitting with all the little girls named Lily, Lilian, Liliana, Lila(h), Layla/Leila, Lola, Lorelei, etc.
Matilda - nickname Mattie (like popular Maddie), if desired
Millicent
Magdala - Maggie
Moira
Gwyneth
Guinevere
Bronwen
Cecily - a spunky, not at all "boring" classic.
Lorna - fitting with more familiar Lorelei, Laura, Lauren, Lori, etc.
Adelia - a spunky, underused "Addie"
Cordelia
Tegan - a less common, not at all trendy, strictly-feminine alternative to similar on-the-rise Teagan. Tegan is a Welsh name properly said TAY-gan, while Teagan is a unisex Irish selection pronounced TEEG-an (though some unfortunately confuse the two).
Carys - another Welsh option with a simple, feminine, modern sound.
Imogen
Beatrix
Isidora/Isadora - quite accessible, given similar Isabella's top-ten popularity.
Eloise - an underused, but familiar, "Elle/Ellie" name.
Lilias - a "Lily" that hasn't yet become a run-of-the-mill choice! ;)
Isla - short, sweet and ultra-feminine. Similar to Ella, Ava, Emma, etc.
Aveline - this one fits with a few current trends. Both the Av- names (Ava, Avery, etc.) and -lines (Madeline, Caroline, Evangeline, Adeline ...)

Harvey - so similar to popular, top 100 classic Henry, but not even in the top 1000 itself. ;)
Lachlan - "cool" modern sound, feel and nickname option (Lach/Lock), popular -lan ending sound and not overused or expected in the least.
Cillian - like Lachlan, a modern sound, fitting with the current K-names trend, but not one that will tend to blend in with the rest.
Ewan - similar to common Ethan, Evan, Owen, etc., but far less usual a choice.
Angus
Oran - ditto Ewan
Fletcher - fitting with the occupational -er surnames trend, a la top-200 Tyler, Hunter, Carter, Cooper, Tanner, Spencer and Parker, but currently not even in the top 1000.
Lennox - definitely a modern vibe, especially with that "cool" letter X in there (LOL)
Gethin - a highly-underused alternative to similar top-ten Ethan!

Of course, there are plenty of more common/familiar classics I like as well, but sticking to a few examples of those that would be considered more on the "unique" side, per your question. ;)
