Hey all, I'm a little concerned and need some professional help. I live in China and they are kind of idiots anyway...but they gave me a diabetes test but not one where you have to drink anything. Just the finger stick one. Will this work for pregnancy diabetes or not? I'm a little concerned since I seem to be thirsty all the time and have only gained 2lbs in 29 weeks. I'm also 34 yrs old and have a history of one miscarriage and one stillbirth. The stillbirth was April 07 here in China and they never told me why she died...I think it was an umbilical cord accident. Anyway should I be worried or is it all basically the same?

I know that they SHOULD give me something to drink for it...but will the other one work? It's not like I have a lot of options here. I'm 7 months high risk, so I can't go back to the US and since I don't speak Chinese it's really hard to find a doctor that will let my husband into the office with me. If anyone can tell me what the real name for the test is so I can try to get it translated it would help a lot.

You really should ask them about the test that you were given. Otherwise, if you're not satisfied, is there any chance you can go to a different hospital?

Here in the US, I was given an orange drink for my first test. The second test (since I failed the first one) I was given a lemon-lime drink. So I guess they come in different flavors.

I don't think the two tests are the same. I mean the one give to you in China and the one given to me in the US.

Edit: I don't know for sure, but I think the name of the test is exactly what you have in your question...Gestational Diabetes test. At least that's the name my doctor refered to when she told me I had to take it.

The two tests are different because of the level of gestational diabetes you can have. I refer it to levels, because some women who have gestational diabetes need insulin and others don't. If you fail the first test, the second test can determine what "level" you're at or it can clarify that you don't have gestational diabetes. I have GD, but for the 3hr test where they draw your blood 4 times, I only failed the 2nd blood test, which is the one taken right after I drinked the Glucola (that's what they called the liquid). That's why all I need is to go on a sugar-free diet and there's no need for insulin.

I used to get my finger poked to check for my blood sugar too at the beginning of my pregnancy, I had it poked on practically ever visit. That test can't determine if you have GD or not because it depends on what you eat and when you last ate before you get your finger poked. For example, if I didn't eat anything before getting my finger poked, my blood sugar would have been fine like it was when I took my first blood test during my 3hr GD testing.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.

I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Here in the US yes we did have to drink a very sugary drink. Being thirsty is one of the symptoms but not gaining weight isnt. Doing a finger prick is usually just to test the hemaglobin and possibly the current sugar level, but it isn't the official diabetes test.

The one I took you did have to drink an extremely sugary orange drink. It tasted like it was 1/4 koolaid 3/4 sugar! It was disgusting. Maybe they do it differently where you're at. I would look into it though if you are worried. Look up all that information online, I'm sure you'll find something. And if you do and they did do it wrong, go somewhere else or demand them to tell you why they are f*ckups

i would ask about it. here in the states the drink they give you is packed with sugar. then you have to wait a while to have your blood tested for the diabetes. just sticking your finger without the drink to me doesnt seem like it would do the trick.
