Take a look at Squier, Fender's budget range. You can get Stratocasters or Telecasters for about £100, or packages with a reasonably good practice amplifier (15w) for about £150

Actually you would be better buying an acoustic guitar.

The reason for this is that the principals of playing are the same but a reasonable acoustic guitar is a lot cheaper than a reasonable electric guitar.

When you are then confident of your playing you will understand the basics of guitars and know what kind and how much to spend on all electric guitar you really want. OTOH if guitar playing is not for you you have saved some dosh.

Best budget electric has to be the Yamaha Pacifica, that was my first guitar, looked a bit plain, but very well made and a decent sound, in fact the basic guitar will easily take better pickups when you're a bit more into it, rather than having to buy another guitar.

I agree that it's better to start with an acoustic, which gives YOU more control over what you play. With an electric, it's helpful to know about electrics.
And whilst a Gibson is a very good make of guitar, it's not a cheap make, so I wouldn't recommend it as a starter.

Happy playing.

How long it takes to learn guitar depends on how good you want to get and how much practice you put in. How good you can get with 1-2 hours a day for a few months depends on what methods you use to practice. There are effective practice methods that will help you make the best use of your time. This course is one of the best. https://bitly.im/aMECb It's not just about how much you play but how effectively you play that will determine how good you will get.

hey Kristen, i've got performed for 40+ years, and you do not want to start on an Ibanez. not asserting that an Ibanez isn't solid, this is merely too lots money to spend beginning out back. Get your self a Epiphone from the Gibson guitar company. you will get a solid sounding, first rate guitar from them at a resonable cost too. take a seem at their cyber web website and spot which one you like, and value them there besides as gazing Guitar center that could be stumbled on on line in case you have not have been given a save on your section. Welcome back to the musicians worldwide and solid luck and function exciting.

you can get a good learner guitar of both kinds at argos ,if not try a john ashton starter kit guitar and amp at £140,it has a tuner built into the body and as you hit the string it lets you know if tht string is in tune.GIBSONS ARE GREAT,but expensive to start with, same with real fenders.
