do you think he would be elected? And would the party banner he ran under make a difference? I personally think he is one of the most electable people in public life today .... a true man of honor.

He was much admired until he drank the Bush kool-aid. He KNEW of the lies and deceit rampant in the Bush administration....and, didn't say a word....still hasn't said a word.

He took an oath to protect and defend...he did neither. He took an oath to uphold the Constitution and he didn't.... Still hasn't.....

Too bad. It's truly a wonder what some people will do for fame and fortune.

I had a lot of respect for him until he folded under pressure from Bush. I still do respect him, but in order to lead the country you need to be able to withstand peer pressure. I think he made the right choice by getting out of politics. If he was running in the upcoming election, with all the other choices, I would vote for him.

From the choices we have now I would vote for him. I don't think he agreed with Bush but had no proof to back it up!!! I think a 4 or 5 star General has something to offer our country more than what we got!!!

I agree with you. It would certainly depend on which office he was running for. Yes, It would matter if he were labeled for a specific party affiliation.

I agree with you - remarkable, honorable man with solid values, education, experience and integrity. However, you can forget him EVER running for national office.

Frankly, I agree with his and his wife's decision, too.

I, too, would vote for him in a hot second. He opted to stay out of politics, though. I wish he hadn't!

All I can say is that he would have my vote. I was so disappointed when he declined to run in 2000.

I used to think so. The fact he wouldn't stand up against Bush bothered me. I guess you have to admire his charcater for that in some ways. To honor a person just because he is Pres is wrong if the person in office is doing things illegal, President or not you should not be allowed to to it. I feel Powell is not stong in chacter because of this. Like him as a person not as a President.
