Okay. My 10 month old has the chickenpox. I am a little over six months pregnant, I had the chickenpox when I was little but is it safe to be exposed now when I am pregnant?

You're probably ok since you had it, but ASK YOUR DOCTOR because we had a friend who got the measles while pregnant and her son was permanently retarded and will live with them or in an institution for the rest of his life. He's 30 now and is unable to live alone and barely speaks. Better safe than sorry...

no chickenpox is not great to get when you are pregnant but if you had them when you were little then hopefully you will not get them....but try to breath if your 10 month old has chickenpox right now ...they have been contagious for about 10 days before they broke out so it would be to late anyways....i would talk to your dr about risk and symptoms that you should be looking 4...

Well if you have had the chickenpox when you was little you shouldn't be able to get it again. I think it should be fine. That is a new one on me.

I did find these things for you to look at though:

Yes, while you are pregnant, and for a little while after (especially if you breastfeed), the baby is protected by your antibodies. So, since you have had chickenpox already, you are fine.

I have heard no when you are pregnant if you have not been exposed before, however, I do not know if you have had them before. I would call your OB right away and see what they say, obviously you can not really seperate yourself from your child.

If you've had it already I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Wow, you're six months pregnant and have a ten month old. Good luck.

Ask your Dr. right away. I was told that it could cause deafness in an unborn child. That may be true only if you come down with it.

you and the baby will be fine. if you hadn't had them before, and you then got infected, there may be concerned. since you can't contract it, your baby can't either. i would let your doctor know either way.

good luck!
