I am just looking for other's opinions on this. My personal opinion is that her parents have not done a great job of raising their kids! I know this sounds cruel, but look at what a train wreck Britney is - I think she could have used some better guidance from her family - and now Jamie Lynn - who is ONLY 16 for Pete's sake! - is pregnant. How about hushing something like that up? I don't think 16 year olds should see how this is "big news" and it shouldn't be glamorized!

Thanks for letting me have my say - and now it's your turn!

OK, I think I came across badly in some people's eyes... I think that, as far as her being a ROLE MODEL, she could have handled this differently.

I hope that she lets other kids know (loud and clear!) that she has a hard row to hoe and that she should have managed her life differently.

I am not saying that 16 don't get pregnant every day, it is a fact, unfortunately. What is am saying is:

THE MEDIA SHOULD NOT GLORIFY THIS!!! As the mother of a 12-year-old, who's friends watch Zoe 101, I don't want them to see it as acceptable!

"How NOT to Parent"

I agree that she is way too young for this, that her family life is already a mess, but I think she could learn from her sister's mistakes abour parenting to the point. Yes, she may never ever be mother of the year when her baby is born but I don't think she will have her custody lost when her baby is born and a few months old. I don't think anything much about the guy. I mean, he is over eighteen so if he does intend to raise his child and be a man I don't have a problem with him but if he doesn't then that's the parents decision on whether to see if they could press charges against him as he is nineteen and Jamie-Lynn is sixteen at the time.

Middle school kids are now having sex, not most but some. Teenage pregnancy is not unheard of anymore. Let's give some teen mothers some credit--I've seen some that have done an amazing job and have heard of some that have done an amazing job.

Brittney's family has been through enough, with Brittney's custody battle [Whether she wants to show up or not?] and everything else. Hopefully, we'll see some better behavior from her much younger sister. Her life as a child has ended and now her life as a mother is begining.

Yes, in a way it kind of makes me want a baby of my own but when I was sixteen, I was not looking to have sex or dating. I was busy fighting to keep my life from falling apart.

I agree with I"m His Baby---let her be. I don't understand why the media is so big on this. 16 year olds get pregnant everyday. Some of them turn out to be horrible mothers. Some of them turn out to be great mothers. Everybody wants to say Jamie Lynn is going to be just like Britney, but honestly this is the first I've heard ANYTHING about Jamie Lynn in a while. I haven't heard anything about her being in trouble or running around like Paris and Lindsey. So, leave her be. Read her interview, she knows she made a mistake. She admits that, and she doesn't want other girls to make the same mistake. Give her credit for that at least.

What if she chose to have an abortion? Everyone's so upset she's keeping it, I can't imagine what would happen had she chose not to.

People need to get a life, and stop worrying about everyone else's.

Let me just start by saying I was pregnant at 16 and had my daughter at 17. It is a long hard road and I don't recommend it. I on the other hand had parents and siblings to help and support my efforts in raising my daughter. I agree, the parenting is not strong and there is no real strong role model to fashion a life from in that family, however, it is not all in upbringing. Women of that age are head strong and opinionated, sometimes these things happen. I agree, there should not be alot of hype about this pregnancy and it is not such a nice role model for the young women in this country. I think as the situation arises each parent needs to discuss this issue with their daughters that they will make the right decision for their given situation.

By the way, my daughter is well adjusted, married and has given me three beautiful grandchildren.

It's a shame, 16 and pregnant. How is a child supposed to be a parent to another child? Her mother did indeed do a poor job raising her and her sister, personally I believe the mother was more interested in dollars than what was right for her children. She pimped them both out. For this child's sake I hope she can grow up really fast. A child is not like a pet. There's much more to it. At 16 you would think that birth control was an option unless they were Amish.

Yeah i was a teen mom so thats hard for me to see a young girl go through that.I had my daughter when i was 17.I don't think that it should be publicized.Eventually it would have got out though.I agree it is being glamorized and for what reason i dont know.Maybe her mother wants the crappy Mom of the year award.Everyone needs to stop focusing on Brittany she is grown and has made her and has to lie in it.She needs a hard lesson in life. You think by now she would shape up but some people never learn.I just worry how the children of these two will turn out and that worries me.

I totally agree with you.I don't get why people keep saying that "its not a big deal, shes just a normal girl".so now its completely fine for teen girls to go around fornicating and getting pregnant? I guess its because she doesn't have a family who influences her positively or guides her in the right direction.Well,if her parents didn't do that for Brittany then I shouldn't have expected them to do that for Jamie Lynn either. Jeez, its a pity how all the Spears are just screwed up.

The average age that women in the US lose their virginity is 17. So its not that big of a deal to me that she was having sex at 16. Its a shame that she wasn't using protection, which would've shown some responsibility on her behalf. But she didn't... she thought it couldn't happen to her... and it did. Damn fertile Spears women. But she made a mistake, and she's making an effort to do the right thing. At least she has somewhat of a career and money put back, which isn't something most 16-yr old girls can say.

What?! ha omg. I'm going to look it up to see if this is for real. What is up with this family?! I actually had high hopes for Jamie Lynn. I guess this will affect all her little nickelodeon kid's shows.

Who is Jamie Lynn Spears and why should I care if she's pregnant? Millions of 16 year olds are pregnant. What makes her special? Was she supposed to be the next Mother Teresa?
