...applesauce and what? I was looking for a craft to do with my 5 y/o that he can give as gifts. I remember making ornaments with cookie cutters and the dough was applesauce and something. Oh, and it was bakeable.
Thanks!

I've had success using about equal parts applesauce and cinnamon. Use a straw to make the hole in the ornament to hang from the tree with ribbon.

3/4 cup ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon allspice
2 tablespoons ground cloves
1 tablespoon nutmeg
1 cup applesauce

Combine spices.
Add applesauce.
Roll dough onto ungreased cookie sheet to 1/4-inch thickness.
Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.
Remove excess dough and repeat process on other cookie sheets.
Make a hole in top of each shape.
Allow to dry for 5 days.
Tie ribbon or yarn through hole.
May be decorated with acrylic paint.

there is another one that i did with my preschoolers before...

you use 3/4 c to 1 cup of applesauce and one bottle of cinnamon...about 4 ounces
mix the 2 together to form dough

Place cinnamon applesauce dough between two pieces of plastic wrap and roll out to 1/4-inch thickness. Use your favorite cookie cutters to cut shapes. Use a straw to cut a hole for ribbon.

Let ornaments air-dry on racks for several days, turning occasionally, until hard. Thread with ribbons to hang.
