Because the denominators, you can add straight away, thus

4/x+3 + 5/x+3 = 9/x+3

When you add fractions, make sure the denominator (bottom part of the fraction) is the same (or has the same lowest common denominator), then just add the top and you're done (don't add the bottom - i.e: NOT x+3 + x+3 = 2x+6 <- this is WRONG)
