Is this a difficult thing to do?

Rich, thanks for your answer. Sounds like you know what you're talking about... but you're a bit beyond me. Is there a website tutorial you know of?

Or does this function have a name so I can search for it?

There are a lot of rotate.php scripts out there that are good for this.

As long as your webhost supports php, it works great- I've used it before.

Try this one:
http://www.sailsarana.com/web_tips.htm#rotate

It shows you how to test if your server has php on it (it probably does). Then, the good stuff is just below with a description of what to do and what to download.

It's basically a matter of putting your images you want to rotate into a folder and directing the script at it by just adding it to your img tag, like so:

Good luck.

You need to have the group of pictures, all sized properly. You need to have the file names for the pictures in a table with a numerical index for each name entry.

When the web site starts up for a user, you need to grab the time of startup. Then use that time to trigger a random number generator that outputs an index you use to choose out of that table. That way even two people logging on simultaneously might get a different picture.

Try Flickr.com Or If you want a page as such, go for www.Blogger.com.
