Then should it be illegal for a man and a women to live together before they are married? Should it be illegal to have a child out of wedlock? Whats the difference? Both of these things are clearly "sins" according to Christians.

To people who say "it is not natural because you cannot reproduce" what about women who cannot reproduce, should they not be "allowed" to marry. After all, they cannot reproduce.

Hi HIi time for a nice answer? Alright! Ok certain states do not approve of gay marriage because they have no sense. Most of the state is prob. made up out of christians... well at least really religious ones. I Do not support making gay marriage illigal. i completley agree with you on this one. If christians believe in god so much and that there should be peace and love then why keep it apart?

This is an Anthropology question. In other words, the reason that same sex marriage is an issue at all is because of the issue of kinship. ALL people naturally need to be involved in family, one way or another. Those that oppose same sex marriage are attempting to protect what they believe family should be because of a fear that a social chaos may erupt. So, religion is used to do this. Interestingly, those that are attempting to be apart of same sex marriage are driven by a strong need to start a family. Both sides have this need but the same sex marriage issue is a new one in human history so naturally you will see ethnocentrism.

So if Gays are allowed to marry and then they just boost up the divorce rate in the US by unknown amounts then what? Would it really change anyone's mind about anything?

I could care less if someone is gay or not and if they want to get married or not since its not really my business but what happens if children in school want to have sleep overs and things other kids do that have heterosexual parents? You think that kid won't have a bunch of problems added to his/her social school life on top of what may already be there? There goes another ??% of teen suicide rates in the US.

I'm thinking about the kids.

Back to the main question, yes they are both sins.

people always try to thwart what they don't understand. eventually, the subject won't be taboo anymore, just like children out of wedlock are no longer taboo in the general society. once stuffy overly traditional fundies get over themselves and realize that other peoples' lifestyles don't affect them, then gays will have more rights.

edit: what's everybody's deal with reproduction? maybe not everybody wants to or can have kids. if anything, gay relationships keep the population down, which i'm glad for. the last thing we need are more ignorant folks that want to hold the 10 commandments and bible verses over peoples' heads just so they can be "right". gays have existed since ancient times, it's totally natural. kids can be brought up just fine with gay parents. a friend of mine has 2 dads and came out well adjusted and productive. straight marriages aren't righteous by any means. look at the divorce rate. then tell me that kids with a mom and dad have a healthier childhood.

rmkachi: yes, but our society, at least stateside, is goverened by the religious right. it is on their agenda to indoctrinate everyone and stop those that don't follow their code of conduct.

Same sex Marriages are not Illegal because of religion, they say they are, but really it is society that rules these things, I mean, we legalize what we think is appropriate and illegalize what we think is not, yes we go back to religion most of the time, but eventually we do what we want to do, we just cover it up by saying "That's what God wants us to do"

i think of human beings could have the capacity to get married to the human beings they love, no count what. human beings could have the capacity to have a kin and function the comparable rights that all human beings else has. it is from the U. S. shape (i admire this section): "We carry those truths to be self-glaring, that one and all men are created equivalent, that they are endowed by potential of their author with specific unalienable Rights, that between those are lifestyles, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness". See the hyperlink decrease than. Peace.

You have a very good point. Unfortunately the ones who try to make up the laws don't look at things that way.

They are sins, but um, if you think about it, being gay is not natural. I have nothing against anyone who is - you're gonna do what you want, but it's not natural - if it were, they would be able to reproduce and have kids without outside help. Think about it.
