I only bring this up as you had mentioned flyers. Curious if this is something you would support and hand out?

Sara Natali - Are you saying that bc I dont support Peta that I dont love animals????..curious if thats what you meant when you put down "I love animals..."

It has nothing to do with not giving a ***about them being killed....itds about the intention behind it and WHO they are targetting.

2007-12-19 04:23:49 · update #4

What I get such a kick out of is people who allow their emotions to play the role rather then their logical thinking. Iam a big animal lover if I could have them all I would...as a matter of fact ALL my animals are rescues and I certainly wish none of this happened and it is cruel but why not try targetting the humanity of it rather than eliminating the whole thing? I dont beleive in saving cows and chickens and so on (and thts just me..and I respect Vegitarians and Vegans)...bc they were put here for us to eat since the beginning days in the bible. It just doesnt have to be so inhumane....I think PETA is WAYYY to extreme in So many ways....

Thanks, well said. :) Seems as though you got the point across.

Thank you Amber.

I find it so hard to beleive that anyone cal actually follow what PETA promotes. They are a sick and distorted organization and its amazing how they get away with such obsurd studies and promotional topics.

Ditto on Rachel's comments. She did get many good points across. She did fail to mention one critical agenda of Peta's and that is their anti-human agenda. Yup, they have made it more than clear that they would love to choose who breeds to who and would like to not only cull but actually kill (yes, there is a difference, people) children who do not meet their standards - degrading the human race and the family to that of or below the level of animals.

Those they will like to kill are two of my own children because they are not what they deem as "perfect". In reality, my children's "disabilities" are strengths to them and my children's IQs are much higher than your average Joe's kid. Yes, I'm bragging - I'm a mom. :) But, PETA supporters think my children are less valuable than the dogs that their PETA kills every year.

Not only do I not support PETA but I do not support ANY shelter or rescue that has any PETA references on their website or refers to their animals in PETA friendly terms (companion animal language) like calling animals "fur kids", "children", etc, and refuse to call animals by proper terms - refusing to say male or female, dog or b****, buck or doe (rabbits), boar or sow (guinea pigs) because of their PETA-loving, human-degrading views.

PETA folk are the epitome of self-righteousness and bigotry. I honestly can't understand why they can't see it. As for Vegetarians and Vegans? The bible warns against being Vegetarian/Vegan (New Testament-no reference, just read it and find it yourself). I understand some people have problems with their health and have to find alternatives for their diet. I hope your diet does your body well. But I know that every living thing has a spirit otherwise it could not be, so what about those suffering salads?! Next time ya eat one, give thanks to God for the life it gave to feed and nourish you. :)

Am I radical? lol. I don't think so. I'm just pointing at these very real issues because I can't believe that anyone with an ounce of spark in their heads has been able to justify supporting an organization with such core beliefs.

Good question.

No way in hell.

I actually just posted a similar question, citing the same pamphlet.

EDIT: Sarah, I think you missed the point.
These pamphlets are being handed out to children....grade school children. Is it responsible to condone scaring the wits out of a child? Is it responsible for PETA to assume that all mothers own a fur coat? Would an ethical organization use such fearsome images to get a point across????

There is a way to make a point without frightening people...ESPECIALLY children. This is a fear tactic, and a sick one at that. Responsible education about animal welfare is fine, this kind of extremism is unacceptable.

Sure you're a vegan....good for you. Are all your cosmetics and hair products made from organic plant matter ( check for urea....it comes from bird sh*t) Do you wear only organic cotton clothing? Because PETA ia aganst shearing animals to make textiles, so you must not own one wool or angora sweater (even though shearing does not harm the animal and often times makes it more comfortable in hot weather). I am sure that none of your shoes are leather or suede, right? And, you mist refuse medical treatment when your sick, right? Because a ton of meds and procedures were first tested on animals...but I'm sure you'd rather die than take a lifesaving drug that was originally tested on a rat. And, what are you doing in the pet section? PETA is against pets, farming, and owning any companion animals of any kind. You must not have any pets then, since you're such a PETA supporter.

Do you even know what you're supporting?

By the way, in 2006, PETA killed over 14,400 dogs and cats at their headquarters in Virginia....euthanized them instead of finding them homes because they don't want people to have companion animals. What was that you were saying about animals being killed???/

No. The organization's original mission was a good idea, but the membership has taken things to a much too radical movement. They no longer have the real welfare of the animals at heart. Their tactics have gone to create more problems, pain and killing of animals than the intentions of those who started the PETA movement. If they had kept things to the original thoughts for the reason to form this organization, the group could still be held in high esteem. I think people who truly love animals see through the cruel and uncalled for tactics of PETA and want nothing to do with them. Those who support PETA do not regard the pain and destruction they cause, not only to animals, but to those who love their animals. If they had kept to their high standards in membership and not let things get fanatical, this could have been a worthwhile group. Today, PETA stands for fanaticism and have gone too far to deserve real support from animal lovers.

Illegal actions should NOT be supported and fanatics in any area are a danger to anything they touch. PETA is a good example of what fanatics can do to a well meaning idea.

I see PETA as having the right idea, but the wrong approach to dealing with animal rights.

I am an animal lover: I currently share my home with two french bulldogs, 8 (or more) hedgehogs and some fish, but in the past I have also kept degu and cats. I support the SPCA and our local humane society.

I don't wear fur or eat a lot of fast food, mostly because pelting mills have been proven to be overly cruel to caring for animals before they are slaughtered as have meat sources for fast food chains.

What's one solution to this problem? Educating young people and the food industry and actually carrying out these so called 'mandatory' USDA inspections every month. This is completely accomplishable, and although it will not totally rule out all forms of cruelty to animals in slaughterhouses and pelting mills, it is much more foreseeable as a goal than PETA's alternative suggestion: everyone becomes vegetarian.

I'll admit it. I eat meat. Does that make me a cold blooded killer like PETA makes it out to be? Not in my opinion. Some of the animals they are trying to protect ALSO eat meat, so is it then reasonable to say that every previously carnivorous or omnivorous animal 'go veg'? Heck no.

I'd rather spend my money on caring for my own animals and helping out the poor abandoned and abused ones cared for by the SPCA and humane society, not have it go towards film and video equipment for PETA reporters to use in their 'undercover investigations'.

Just my two cents. Interesting to see what everyone else thinks.

First, an inaccuracy. Helena stated that PETA is an animal rights business enterprise. it truly is unfaithful. they're additionally an animal welfare business enterprise that endorces exploitation that they deem to be "much less merciless." An animal rights individual would not advise any sort of exploitation of non-human animals. 2nd, i'm not a member of PETA. finally, on an identical time as we are on the subject count of terror, considering the fact which you're questioning approximately it, think of 40 billion animals killed in line with twelve months, premeditatively, unncessarily, and in an extremely merciless way. do you recognize any meant human terrorist communities, besides the beef and dairy industry, that have numbers that best? i could say i'm fantastically anti-terror, anti-terror against human beings and non-human beings. you % to locate somebody or some thing similar to Nazi habit? bypass to a slaughterhouse, dairy or egg farm. seem no extra desirable - except you're brave adequate to undertaking right into a "study" lab.

Yes and no. I am a member but do not agree with some of their hard core beliefs. I do support many to most of their efforts, I donate, I sign their petitions, hand out their flyers for certain programs. I also have attended many of their protest when the cause is right. I LOVE ALL and can not stand animal cruelty and they are a tough force to deal with and they do stand up for animals. I just do not support some of their extreme issues feeding my dogs a veggie diet. Stuff like that I do not support. But I do get many petitions, and a great deal of issues worth fighting for.

Isn't PETA the group that believes owing pets is against their teachings?

Aren't they the ones that believe zoo's are evil, even if they are trying to save animals from extinction, with breeding programs?

I picked a pepper from my garden and now it's dying, When will it end?

Please correct me if I'm wrong!

Yes. Some of their tactics make me uncomfortable, but then so many of us are going blissfully through life unaware of the extreme suffering of animals in - for one example - the factory farm industry. Even those of us who claim to love animals often turn a blind eye to the suffering of animals that we eat. At least PETA is trying to get people to see this. I guess they feel they have to resort to attention-getting behavior, otherwise people will just ignore the message.

No and anything they are involved in I search deeper for the truth and not their propganda. They do distort facts.

Many times they get a message something is going on and they run with it without checking anything out themselves.
