Yes there is reason to be afraid, because gay guys freak some straight guys out an they may respond in a "negative" fashion. Call it homophobic or whatever fact is people are people an react differently. In general I think your safe but feel guys out before you come out with the "how do you know your not gay if you never tried"....because I never ate crap but I know I'm not a crap eater. Be polite,respectful an non-intrusive and 85% of straight guys wont knock your *** out!

people can sense fear. If you act afraid straight guys or whoever will either feel defensive, weirded out, or hostile. Don't be afraid and you'll be fine.
