Thick black smoke billowed from a fire Wednesday on the White House compound in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.
The blaze appeared to be located in Vice President Dick Cheney's suite of ceremonial offices on the second floor of the building. Executive Office Building, a commanding structure with a granite, slate and cast iron exterior at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and 17th Street, houses staff of the National Security Council and other agencies.

Is it just coincidence that plastic, as in video tape, burns with a thick black smoke?

Thank goodness no one was hurt.
Merry Christmas

not alluding to anything but i sure could:

The Justice Department had told U.S. District Judge Henry Kennedy he had no jurisdiction to inquire into the destruction of the tapes. It separately told lawmakers on Capitol Hill last week to delay public hearings on the tapes' destruction while the department's National Security Division and the CIA inspector general's office investigated.

That was just the Hell Mouth opening up...After all, Cheney needed to air out his office a little...

Seriously though, I'm not sure what coincidence you are alluding to. Do you have more detail?

It looked gray-ish too me. Anyway, I doubt they intentionally destroyed something. This makes it a little too obvious doesn't it? Cheney's office on fire?
