Um, I was wondering I have heard rumors about lining your clothes, purses, bags, etc. with aluminum foil, will disrupt the detectors so that you can steal. Is that true? Or myth?
The reason I am asking is because, for one, in colorado, its illegal for anyone to bring aluminum foil in to the stores because of theft, and they are also putting dectors to detect aluminum foil. Also, I read numerous articles about it. And according to them it really does work... I just was wondering if someone could tell me first hand or by experience! Thanks.

I had to reask this question. Bcause I put it under fashion, well, honestly I dont think they know.

Yes. I once saw an episode of COPS! where they pulled over a guy in a car. In his trunk he had a large shopping bag full of CDs. The bag was actually two identical bags, that were taped together with a layer of foil in between them. The officer explained that thieves do this because the magnetic strips don't set of the alarms if the bag is lined with foil.

Doesn't work. I caught a few scumbags trying that trick and it was funny the look on their face when the police is called to take them away. The sensors now days are 100x better than those of ten years ago when foil worked. Dont be a low life scumbag and steal.

It depends on the type of anti theft deice the store uses. In some stores the use of such large amounts of metal would trigger the stores sensors, while in others it would foil the devices.....
