my daughter hates her socks! she wants them soft and comfortable, etc. Any ideas how to keep them soft -- especially after daily washes from the washing machine?

any favorite detergents, etc? Thanks!

I always add a little of liquid softner with my laundry liquid and wash and they use dryer sheets also Oh sooo soft...

In my experience, detergent doesn't matter as much as what you do with the dryer.
I'm very picky about my clothes being soft, so everything goes into the dryer with lots and lots of dryer towels.
Favorite brand here is Snuggle - the scent just beats every other brand.
I usually put 4-5 of those tissues in with every dryer load and everything comes out static-free, soft and smelling great.

For detergents - Tide.
With Febreeze added and for whites with Bleach Replacement.

Adding baking soda to the wash will soften the water and the laundry -- it really works, plus it adds cleaning power *and* gives a wonderfully fresh smell. Fabric softener in the final rinse will also soften them. If you dry the socks on the line, you can put them in the dryer for just a few minutes afterward, on low heat, to soften them.
