In the sense that never in the history of the polls has a team jumped so far over teams that didn't lose in a given week into a game that determines the national championship, yes. In a sense that the two best teams should play for the national championship, if there even should be such a thing, no. I don't think Georgia was necessarily one of the two best teams this year. Then again, I flip flop back and forth as to whether LSU was either based on some of their performances and of course there's the argument about Ohio State's schedule being comparatively weak this year. I've said this several times, but if you're a Georgia fan (or a Mizzou fan, because you REALLY got screwed by not going to any of the big bowls) don't let it worry you because all this BCS nonsense is just that, nonsense.

They didn't go to the SEC Championship. You have to win your conference first, and foremost to make it to the National Championship, and the BCS just likes LSU! Oh, and do not start with Ohio State. Ohio State definitely earned it. I'm a WVU/ Penn State fan, and Ohio State definitely earned it.
Hawaii is like Boise State. Strength of their schedule.... Not too strong. Georgia and Hawaii for the National Championship, would have nobody watching. BCS is just now about favortism, and how many people are going to be watching. I would have really liked to see WVU in the National Title.

I can't say that they got screwed, but I think they have a case to be there. One the one hand, they were #4 in the BCS the second to last week and then the #1 and #2 teams lost, so they should have moved up to #2. However, it is really hard to complain about not playing in the national title game when you didn't even play in your conference title game.

Georgia is lucky they got a BCS game at all, they did not even play in the SEC title game. How can you play for the national title without even playing for, much less winning, your conference. They got hooked up with their bowl matchup too, they get to beat up on Hawaii, and finish strong without having to play a BCS caliber team. You should be grateful the way they got hooked up.

You have got to be kidding in that Georgia lost to Tennessee and did not win their division much less the SEC crown. They didn't take care of business. Just because they are playing great football at the end of the season doesn't mean they should have been granted a miracle wish. They didn't get screwed in that they screwed themselves.

For the same reason all the other times you have asked. Georgia finished third in the SEC. Why should they go to the title game? They didn't even qualify for the SEC game.

Oklahoma has a better claim than Georgia. OU trounced the final regular season #1 team on a neutral field. Neither of them got hosed like Mizzou did though. I think it is criminal that stupid Illinois got picked over Mizzou who beat them.

They are....but it's called the Sugar Bowl, and it's played at the Same place as the Championship Game.
If you ask me, Georgia and Hawaii should be in the NC. I think the BCS old farts knew this, but they also knew that they had to please other old farts by putting LSU and OSU in it, so they put Georgia and Hawaii together in the Superdome for a different BCS game.
