It's been 3 years since we separated and he isn't in a hurry for the divorce. Legally then is it entirely my responsible financially since I'm the one that wants to get it over and done with. Property isn't an issue, he can have it all. I just want legally divorced.

I'm not contradicting myself. We own a house and he has substantial 401 K which he can have the house and the money. But I do feel like he should have to help in the legal costs of getting the divorce finalized.

I want him to pay half because I feel like he should. He has more money than I do and can easily afford it. I'm not trying to take anything from him but feel the expense should be shared. Geez I'm just asking.. Don't crucify me here.

You can have your attorney ask for him to pay half of the costs of the divorce in your Petition. You will still have to pay all costs up front and it still doesn't mean that he will have to pay you back though.

No you don't you just contradicted yourself. You stated you want him to pay half and then said you just want a legal divorce.
Listen you need what is rightly yours. Don't be shy about it.

Get a lawyer. File for divorce and ask the judge to make him pay for it all!

Let me introduce you to the new math as I understand it; you should split everything 50/50; you take all the assets and he gets all the liabilities. Quit standing around playing with yourself; get a good agressive attorney and follow his/her advice and guidance. Quit trying to be Ms. Nice Person. ps. Merry Christmas

if you are the only who wants to get divorced the financial end of the fees is all up to you. why would you want him to pay for half of your lawyer if you aren't trying to get anything?
