My point is really: If these people like Jay Leno, David Letterman or Conan O'Brian, don't have their "jokes" written by these "writers", do they not know how to entertain people with their jokes themselves on tv ???????????

I hate it... too many re-runs of Tonight/Late Show. Conan and Jay have no writers for their jokes. Conan is a member of the writers guild, so he is barred from writing his own... and Lost may not make it to the series finale. Not word on when it is airing again, either.

For us consumers, more loyalty fees here and there will only increase the cost of entertainment. It's not like the production company will bear the extra cost or actors taking pay cuts just so writers can pocket in more money.

I don't care about their strike.

I often have wondered why someone like Jay Leno needs someone else to write for them......isn't that taking another person's credit?

Why shouldn't writers be compensated for reruns? The actors are!
