If Garrett is on the market, he is as good as gone. Jerry Jones better be smart enough to see that.
Parcell's first call will be to Jason Garrett.
Parcell's will be announcing he is accepting VP deal today.

re: richard...that's my point. He needs to be assured the head coaching job at Dallas. Every football fan knows that Wade Phillips is just watching Parcells team right now. Once he actually has to replace some of those positions, he will show he is no Bill Parcells...but Garrett worked with Parcells and Dallas for quiet some time now. He is the link to the knowledge.

re: Mike...agreed...that's why he has to have the deal that he becomes the head coach in Dallas as soon as Phillips is "reassigned". There's no way Jones lets him walk.

Exactly, sign Garrett to a long term deal. Now it will be interesting how the teams come together. Parcells will do what Parcells always does, excel at identifying talent (Romo). Jerry will do what Jerry always does, meddle in the team and mess it up. We will be able to watch as the power of the NFC chances over the next 2 years, now throw in Minnesota and this will be interesting.

Garrett is not as good as you think. He is the guy who called last weeks miserable game against the Eagles. Why not run the ball with your probowl running back behind your three probowl linemen if your QB is struggling, especially in a close low scoring game? Because your play calling Offensive coordinator dropped the ball that is why. Parcells doesn't need Garrett, he will bring out some other obscure football coaches and personnel and turn that thing around inAtlanta if he gets the job, like he did in Dallas and everywhere else he has been. Parcells is a sure hall of famer. I wish he never left the Giants, but that is how he rolls, he brings teams to prominence, and then moves on.

Parcells, who is probably gonna wind up taking the job in Miami, b/c he is one of those guys who has to be hands on, and I think that's where he is gonna end up. I think that Rob Chudizinski could be a possible canidate for the Falcons since he has helped turnaround the Cleveland Browns this season.Mike Singletary is still a canidate despite the Falcons need for a offensive coach. But back to the question, Jason Garrett is gonna take over after next season in Dallas, well that's what I think is gonna happen. and the Tuna is gonna go to Miami, b/c he wants nothing to do with Atlanta and all that drama.

hoping that he will stick around for another 4 or 5 years and hope that Wade Phillips has a bad season and gets fired sounds like a pipe dream. Its not like Wade is that old, and he also has won places with a lot less talent then he has in Dallas. Garrett is gone and there really is nothing the Cowboys can do about it. I mean think of the alternative, you could be sitting at 6-8 or worse and then nobody would want Garrett, but when you are good you are going to lose your top assistants.

It wouldn't surprise me to learn that Jerry Jones has already put this issue to bed within the organization. Remember, there's no salary cap for coaches. I say work out some sort of succession deal, if they haven't already, go ahead and pay him head coaching money and lock him up for the future. New Stadium = New Coach. Garrett is probably more critical to the Cowboys long-term success than Phillips.

Garrett won't sign a long term deal because he is the #1 head coaching prospect.

A head coach or an organization hardly evers puts up a roadblock if an assistant coach wants to interview for a head-coaching job. Garrett is on a fast track with a couple other NFL assistants for the head coaching vacancies.

I would like to give Garret his props...but I believe he is not ready for a head coaching job quite yet....realistically i don't think it would matter who you have at coach would make much of a difference to the cowboys, they are stacked with talent on each side of the ball....Does anybody remember the last Superbowl the cowboys had with Switzer? that was Jimmy Johnson's team he put that together and Switzer was there to collect the credit, I could coach that team to victory or you!!!
