It's a matter of choice. Try the tampons...ya might like them better....ya might not.
The reason most of us prefer tampons is cuz we don't like napkins...they are stinky and nasty...*shudders*
BUT, the use of proper tampon insertion takes some practice...be patient, and take your time....make sure you start with the smallest size....Some feel that using tampons shouldn't be used by girls who want to remain virgins...why? not sure...seems they think it might damage the hymen....which they won't.
Try them, then you will be able to decide which you are more comfortable with.
Good Luck!

Tampon Vs Sanitary Napkin

Well when I was younger I only used tampons like, once or twice for gym when I was on my period, and the rest pads. But now the majority of the time I use tampons. They make me personally feel fresher and I don't like the feel of pads much. I have moderate to heavy flow, and I generally use Tampax Pearl. Also they are great if I want to go swimming or whatever with my girls. However sometimes I feel like not being very active so if I'm just in the house then I would wear a pad (which is not often), generally Bodyform, Always or my supermarket brand (they do just as good but I don't trust them with tampons). The Bodyform pads come with a nice discreet carry tin that I give to my daughters because I don't need them. I've never used a menstrual cup before, I just don't like the idea of it, it looks quite big and I'd be scared of it falling out if I didn't insert it correctly. But I think it's a good thing for women that like them. ♥ xx

Try them and see which is more comfortable. I use neither. I use Instead Softcups which are disposable menstrual cups but have recently decided to switch to the Keeper which is reusable. Sometimes on my heavy days or at night I wear a pad with the cup in order to prevent some leaks if it's really bad but usually I don't need anything but the menstrual cup. They have definitely made my life easier and I am never going back to wearing tampons or just pads again.

You can try with tampons, and if you find them uncomfortable switch back to sanitary towels. Remember if you do decide to start using tampons its recommended to use sanitary towels at least once day out of your period to reduce Toxic Shock Syndrome.

But have a talk with your mum and you can decide together.

Don't switch unless you think that YOU are ready!I personally would stick with pads but it's your choice, just remember you are only 13 years old not as old as you probably should be to start using tampons!!

yes i think you should switch to tampons, they're less messy and usually more comfortable. you should also talk to your mum and see what she says!

i'm 12 (JUST) and i have had three periods and i used tampons even on the first one even though i was a little scared at first. but they are actually very easy and quite safe. i would recomend that you use a tampon with a plastic aplicator (they're easier than cardboard ones)such as tampax compak (i use them) also i would suggest that you wear a pantyliner a well when you start using them (you can leak a little)

hope i helped!

The tampon have more protect than pads. If you're on period. If you hadn't use the tampon first time. You can start put tampon in your body, when you get your a period. Don't use regular tampon. Get a junior tampon to start, it will help you to start put tampon in your body easier than regular. You need talk your mother first and she will be happy to help you about period.

Humm, I'm 15 and still using sanitary pads. Haven't touch or seen a tampon yet cause they are so damn blardy expensive.
No family member of mine have used a tampon since it is quite dangerous if you are unhygenic.
Leaving it too long and cause the Toxic Shock Symdrome thing, leaving it too short is just pure wasting. The blood decomposes in your body and may cause cervix cancer or something like that.
That's why I haven't had a family member who is hospitalised of cancer =)
I'm trying to learn how to use a tampon... one day...

But in my opinion, use sanitary pads when you are at home, tampons if you are going out.

right when i first started having my period i always used pads bc i was afraid of that toxic shock syndrome. but now im 26 and all i use are tampns. I have no problems with them and they are alot easier to mess with. Plus i think pads hold more odor. If you go with tampons get the gentle glide or the satin feel, those are the best. but its your choice, whatever makes you the most comfortable.
