I'm getting a PS3 for christmas and i was wondering what some good games would be for it. I was thinking assassins creed and Resistance...any suggestions?

It all depends on what your Into.
Resistance Fall od Man is good, but Call of Duty 4 is better if you like first person shooters,
Uncharted-Drakes fortune is fun it's a good 3 person shooter/platformer
Warhawk is ok, it's online only, so if you have a poor internet connection it's not worth the money.
Need for Speed-Hot Import Nights, is fun if you like driving and car sims, also you customize your cars, kinda like Grand Tourismo, But you actually get to select the maker of the parts as well. and can sell your cars online. which is fun
noone mentioned Conan the Barbarian. it's similar to God of War, But not quite as good. it's still fun though.
SKIP Sonic the hedgehog! I got it and it's aggrivating. and Nowhere near as fun as the older ones.
Guitar Hero 3 legends of rock is AMAZING! just know that some of the older ones for PS2 won't work with the PS3's controller.
I haven't played Assassins Creed yet, I only listed games I actually own and Play. Assissn's Creed, from what I hear it's Grand Theft Auto 1400's style, I'm dying to get my hands on it.
you'd also wanan check out "Haze" it's supposed to be a good first person shooter, it's actually been pushed back was due to be released before christmas, I don't have the current release date, BUT it sounds cool as hell.

Well congratulations 6 days early, and welcome to the family. Your first two choices in games are good ones. Resistance was the first game I bought last year, although the voice issues were a little sketchy at first, they've since patched (added or removed features in the game for better playability SOMETIMES) the game and now voice is perfect and the online glitches have been modified.
Assassins Creed completely caught me off guard, I didn't expect it to consume me so much. Graphically the game is simply amazing, the physics and time period are completely accurate, and its fun to play. The recommendation I read about Drake's Fortune is a good one as well, the game isn't very long, but it shows off the PS3's prowess better than any game I've played so far. I'm very intrigued by Folklore but I haven't played it yet. I think Assassins Creed and Resistance are some fine choices though.

Assasins Creed is defo the best game! Takes a while for it to get into gameplay tho b/c u have to do tutorial and stuff, but its worth the wait! also need for speed is gud, better than what it used to be for PS2.

warhawk is continuous fun, you can do so many different things, my favorite is plowing into a crowd of bad guys in a jeep and hearing the "splat"

i just bought one and it came with ratchet and clank tools of destruction and it is alright but i played time crisis 4 and its super fun...
