My parents use to rent a condo, two bedroom for $900. We use to rent a 5 bedroom house for $1200 plus utilities. Now we own a house... well we always owned a house but never lived in it until three years ago. But I have no idea what the mortgage is. Oh, I'm in Canada.

I rent, because where I live (London UK) I'd need to save up a deposit of roughly £30,000 before I could get a mortgage. House prices to buy here are stupid. Even the rent is a really high price, I pay £265 per week for a 2 bedroom flat.

I rent my house for $800.00 per mo. I have a 3 bed 2 bath on a football sized patch of land with a pond. I got lucky though my landlords are patients where I work so I got a sweet deal.
I live in Kingston,Washington.

I rent now, but will be buying after the first of the year. And price depends on what kind of "place" you are looking for.

Me and my boyfriend moved into our first apartment together about four months ago. We rent for $1,000/mo and we have a three bedroom, 1.5 bathroom. We live in a small suburb just outside of Chicago and it's peaceful and beautiful. The houses are a little older but we love it!

My boyfriend and I were going to move out, but its very compeditive to get a house to rent where we wanted to live, and it was pretty pricy for what we were earning so we decided to stay home for a bit longer....
We were looking at two bedroom apparments, around $270 - $300 per week.

own/mortgage, my house is currently valued at 160,000. But an average home in my area would be 100,000. Katrina drove the housing market prices up, thank God I bought a home a month before the storm=)
