I have known a few girls that have recurring rape fantasies. In my limited experience, these girls have masochistic traits to their personalities. And when I say masochistic, I don't just mean sexually, I mean in many aspects of their lives.

What do others think? Does the existence of recurring fantasies of being raped show a strong masochistic streak

No. Men and women who have these fantasies want to be absolved of responsibility for their sexual activity. They want to lose themselves, so to speak, in the moment. If you are swept away by emotion, forced to submit, etc., then whatever happens is not your fault.

Rape fantasies are much more common than people think, for both men and women. Rape fantasies have nothing to do with real rape. Having fantasies about acting out forced sex with your partner doesn't mean you would ever want or enjoy being raped for real. In fantasy, you can take out all the parts of reality that you don't like... essentially, get rid of everything that makes rape, rape. You have control over the situation and you're with someone you trust, both of which don't apply to actual rape. It's just another expression of dominance and submission, and liking to feel submissive in bed, a feeling which many women share. I would agree that girls who have rape fantasies are often sexually masochistic to some degree, almost by definition, but I don't think there's any link with real life personality. Many women enjoy being submissive and roleplaying, I think it's pretty common and healthy to explore fantasies, as long as it's consensual. I'm masochistic sexually, but I don't seek to be hurt in real life and I wouldn't enjoy it if I was.

A neurotic fantasy about rape I think is a type of masochism. A feeling of deserving pain due to the lack of self-esteem or worse, their self-loathing. On the other hand, a healthy fantasy about rape would only be with someone you trust and admire. I think this fantasy is an extreme form of the man's role in a sexual relationship. The ultimate form of "taking control".

Men can have rape fantasies also. And it is a deep desire to be totally submissive. A wanting to be controlled. The masochist wants to be punished and beaten not for the pain but for the release of stress and being controlled. And to not feel guilty.

I know the reason I have not strictly rape fantasies but dominace fantasies about sex. For me it stems from religious reasons. It is about not taking responsibility for sexual behaviour and therefore there is no guilt of 'sin' because it wasnt your fault...

I found all those girls are easy influenced for lack of self respect and most importantly lack of self esteem. Obviously if you had some sort of dicipline growing up you wouldnt be asking for it in bed. I sure as hell know I dont..Mom gave me plenty abusive attention.
