AL used to be my fav. artist but know she has changed in to a pop loving pink crazy girly girl .i mean she use to be every rock music loving girl's idol right ,but what has happened to her i mean look at her clothes and videos, i don't mind a change but this is just too much:(

She was always pop, I don't see the difference from her now to what she was before.

People changes. If she keeps making the same kind of music eventually no one will buy it. There's only so much you she can do with the kind of music she use to do she has to change. In fact, her second album has a different kind of music from her first one as well.
She's probably trying to drop that tomboy rocker image she has and try to build a more feminine image.
Anyway, the most important thing is her music. It doesn't matter if she wants to go all black or all pink. Outlook means nothing... at least thats how music should have been =)

Actually, I disagree. I think she still looks punk (check out the liner photos from her "The Best Damn Thing" album), and her music still has an edge. I think "The Best Damn Thing" has some harsher songs, maybe not instrumentally but through lyrics. ("Everything Back but You", "I Can Do Better".) I don't see any evidence that she's turned into a girly girl (the video for "Girlfriend" is punk to me); she's always had ballads on her albums. The overall musical style of her latest album is a bit different, but I don't think it's changed her image; I think it's enhanced it.

Actually, I'm kind of the opposite. I didn't like her much back in her Sk8er Boi days....and I'm With You made my ears bleed...(there were a few good songs)
But her stuff now is really catchy...and if you aren't a fan of Avril's...you just can't help but to be riding in the car and singing along.
She just changed her style. But, she's still Avril (and, she's always been considered Pop...whether it be Pop/Rock or Pop/Punk...she's always been a Pop singer)

Oh come on, open your eyes! She is a silly spoilt brat who has an annoyingly squeaky voice, thinks she is 'hard' and has just got married to someone called Deryck Whibley from some so called 'punk' band caled Sum 41. She is so damn original she does whatever her record label tells her to, and that means going against her previous, sk8tr look and prancing about in pink, glitter and too much make up.
Shes a Bratz doll come to life. I suggest you move on and find someone new to listen to....

Well, Her Old Songs Had More Meaning... And Her Old Look WaS Awsum! But even when she changed she made "When your gone" And that is one of her best songs so far its so awsum :) she hasnt really changed anyway. shes like a girly rocker now which is okay.

i have no idea either maybe getting married did something to her, i think she has taken a step backwards. i mean this was a girl who i thought i would never see in pink and now her hair is pink and she's acting like some sort of cheerleader in that one video. she needs to go back to her hate the world attitude and make some music that people can relate to.

I know right. I was thinking the same exact thing. She is still my all time favorite, but she def has become a girly girl... which is NOT like her! she even said she didnt like the "girlyness" back in the day. I still absolutly love her but her video "HOT" what she is wearing is just NOT her. =[

What's up with her? Men like femininity, that's what's up. Plus, she's too old to be dressing the way she used to. It isn't dignified for a woman to dress like a girl.
Who cares how she dresses? She's a SINGER, not an actress. Her looks shouldn't matter.

I don't like it either, and i can understand you. Right now i'm listening to "complicated" and meanwhile i think, i try to find reasons why she changed so much. She moved to a totally different music style! I think back abd find so many cool songs! But now she's a cheerleader pop singer... "Hey hey you you i don't want your girlfriend". Jesus, it sucks! But she's experimenting and we have to respect it...
