After a recently sent email to another reader, this just struck me about certain books. I know, weird.

In my home most books would feel very neglected plus they'd be dusty, shredded by my dog, or lost.
However there would be a select few that live in my nightstand, that would be VERY happy indeed..

I am certain that the late Peter DeVries books would be very happy. A long time friend and I used to laugh so much talking about them. Alexander McCall Smith's books make me laugh and I admire the dignity he portrays in his writings. I don't know if this is what you are going for, but this is what I think.

Certain Books? such as....
"The Cute Little Pink Haired Elf's Happy Purple Hippo" book? Yes! It would be very happy!

Gee, I would have to put my books in different places, some with locks if they all developed a personality like the books had! The King books would have to go... just couldn't rest with them in the house with the rest of my books!

Just one more thing to add to my paranoia list!

Not weird! Books are like old friends to be revisited from time to time. Some are exciting others are overly dramatic. I like ironic ones, happy and suspenseful even sad. Ferrol Sams books are so happy and funny I laugh out loud.

Not the ones by Dostoyevsky! I can't imagine "Crime and Punishment" having a happy disposition! "Winnie the Pooh" on the other hand...
I would guess that the books that make us laugh (and sometimes cry) would be happy. Those that deal with darker subjects could be quite morose.

Don't know if they all happy, but they definitely all have a personality. And since I discovered YA, most of them are very lonely.
