so what did the scientist do to help.?for example, discover ways or substances to attack other countries?

Developed new military technology...for instance, the atomic bomb, RADAR, the V2 rocket, and the ME-262 jet.

Scientists have always focused on making things better. For war and peace time. Radar came from scientists wartime efforts. Incidentally, the microwave oven came from scientists working on Radar technology.

They developed new weapons, new bombs, new chemicals, new technologies. Radar was mentioned. Look up the Manhattan Project.
