In my opinion, it is the most phenomenally SCRUMPTIOUS burger thay have ever produced! But I can't find it for sale at *any) of the McDonald's in my area (NE Iowa).

To "William C" -- I travel a lot, and used to be able to find it in many parts of the USA -- including in Rochester, MN. :)

To "ajfrederick9867" -- Capital District? I grew up in the Mohawk Valley (Fort Plain) and then lived for many years in East Greenbush. I don't recall seeing that burger on my visits back there, so possibly you never had it.

To "" -- Of course I weigh hundreds of pounds. Practically all adults do. (Even 101 pounds in over 100, and thus is 1.01 hundredS of pounds.)

Tell me two things, please: (1) How could anyone get fat eating one Archburger a month? And (2) Why would any person's weight be ANY other person's business?

To "Mom of 2 great boys" -- Thanks for your answer. If McDonald's actually did get rid of that burger... what a shame! To me, it was the most delicious thing they've ever sold, and I really miss it!

To "J-Mick" and "Wetpapersack" -- Thanks for the great information. Much appreciated. And yes, I do remember thinking that McD was charging 'way too much for it. Maybe McD's greed caused the downfall of that burger, more than any other factor.

I could be wrong about this, but I think the "Archburger" term is referring to the Arch Deluxe.

(Check out this old archived web ad)
http://web.archive.org/web/19970113194649/www.mcdonalds.com/a_now/deluxe_line/

Here is a link to a recipe to make your own:

but to answer your question....sadly no...the Arch Deluxe was discontinued after being a major marketing dissappointment, coming in as the most expensive marketing flop to date. But I agree...the sandwich was quite tasty.

Tried making your own?

"The Arch Deluxe was a quarter pound of beef, on a toasted split-top potato flour sesame seed bun topped with a circular piece of peppered bacon, leaf lettuce and tomato, American cheese, onions, ketchup, and a "secret" mustard sauce." --Wikipedia

Most restaurant "secret sauces" are just thousand island dressing and mayo. So this is probably like mayo and mustard, play around with it, maybe you can reinvent the arch burger. :)

(Also, I looked it up and the burger has been discontinued at McDonald's world-wide for being being too expensive and having a high caloric content)

Edit: More info for those of you who deny the existence of the Arch burger, LOL. It was introduced in 1996 along with the Crispy Chicken Deluxe and a whole Deluxe line of sandwiches. Didn't last long at all, that's why you've never heard of it.

I've never heard of the Archburger. However after reading about what it was I can tell you it is similar to the big and Tasty. The only difference is that the B&T has mayo and your arch burger had a blend of mayo/mustard the way I understood it. Try the Big and Tasty you might like it.

I have never heard of the Archburger. I have been eating at MCDonalds since the early 60's. Are you sure there is a burger by that name?

I don't think they sell that anymore.
McDonalds try out new items for awhile and if they don't go over big, they discontinue it.
Take for instance, the McRib, it is a hit whenever it comes back. But, they only have it for a few short months and then it disappears.
Sorry, the Archburger, I guess wasn't a big hit.

None of them have it around here in the Capital district of New York either. I've never had one (in fact never even heard of one), so what exactly is it anyhow?

Sorry, that must have been some kind of a test they ran in Iowa. Since you guys liked them they knew they would flop in all the other states. (A little Minnesota-Iowa bad mouthing! )
