Oh wow, I missed a week
Match 1: Nunzio vs. Drew McIntyre
Winner: Drew
Reason: Drew McIntyre has a future...whereas Nunzio dresses up like elves...yeah...
Analysis: Not a good starter match, would've been a better squash for the second match. Shows need good starters, whether it be a promo or a solid midcard match. This is neither, this is a lower midcarder fighting a jobber. That being said, given time, this could be a good match, but I don't know enough about Drew to make that claim.
* star. It would be a good match, but no heat or time, that's why it gets 1 star. And yes, Candle the analytical A-Hole is back, haha.
Match 2: Rey Mysterio vs. Shannon Moore
Winner: Rey-Rey
Reason: Rey-Rey's more over
Analysis: Although you've pushed Shannon in the past, this is a new slate. I wont condemn the match, because I think this could've been the grade-a starter that Drew and Nunzio could've been. I'd give the match 6 minutes of cruiserweight action, maybe 8 if I were booking generously. Still, a good match, and a great pairing.
*** Stars. I don't think that's too generous
Match 3: Boogeyman vs. Chavo Guerrero
Winner Boogey
Reason: SQUASH!
Analysis: Not a bad card placement for a squash, but as much as I hate Boogey and love Chavo, I think WWE would book Boogey over Chavo, and that's my main motive for the result. Chavo could carry this for the 4 minutes of on air time it's given, but I hate to bury Chavo, but that's just me I guess...
*1/2 Stars, and THAT'S being generous
Match 4: MVP vs. Kevin Thorn
Winner: Porter
Reason: Kevin Who?
Analysis: Yes, I know who Kevin Thorn is, but at this point, I'd be surprised if anyone else did. If you push Thorn on your cards, I'll give extra brownie points, because this match has great potential, and I think it would be a very long, very glorified, job on Thorn's part. I'd book Kev against lower people on the card, like Nunzio, because I'd hate to compromise his growth...but then again, I'm not the booker, and we've had that discussion hahaha.
***1/2 Stars. I think this would be a solid match, I just think the crowd would be dead on their feet, and that Thorn would really lose a lot of steam...then again, he's already Jobbed to Richards...yeah, the man's lost all steam...he's an ice chest...
Match 5: CM Punk vs. Carlito
Winner: Punker
Reason: He's the man to push
Analysis: Smart booking. People would dig this match, and if Carly were motivated, it could be a really great new school clinic. With that being said, and Punk's current work rate and past stamina, I don't think this match would go very long, but it would go long enough to get people into it.
****1/2 stars. This is really smart booking, and really good card placement, but at the end of the night, I think it would be a flash-in-the-pan match that nobody would remember after that night...unless there was a feud or re-match...hmmm...
Match 6: Jeff Hardy vs. RVD - Hardcore Match
Winner: RVD
Reason: RVD really needs to re-establish himself as a main eventer, and Jeff's going higher and higher up the card every day now. I don't think this match would compromise Jeff's heat, but would do wonders for Van Dam's cred.
Analysis: These men are very unorthodox, very spotty, and very talented. Meshing their styles could be a beautiful thing, or a disasterpiece (to paraphrase an old "friend"). This is one of those matches that could go either way, but the crowd would be fully into it, and I don't think Rob and Jeff would let them hate it.
**** Star match. It could end up being a spotfest with no real transition, but it would still be considered a MotN candidate to those watching.
Match 7: John Cena vs. Finlay
Winner: Cena
Reason: Finlay's the jobber to the stars
Analysis: Could be a good match. A lot of people will say that Finlay can carry Cena, but I don't think he needs carrying. John really does get a bum rap, and the majority of people who still call him a bad wrestler have either zoned out during Mania and the preceeding Raw, or just flat out don't like Cena for his character.
***** MotN candidate. Both of these men are brawlers, and fairly good workers. This could be a long and drawn out slugfest, or a textbook pillar-to-post intense matchup. You really can't say this is bad booking at all, and no, I wouldn't make it the main event. Perfect card placement
Match 8: Chris Jericho vs. Elijah Burke
Winner: Jericho
Reason: Burke's the Jobber to the....well...Midcard lately. And yes, ECW's main event IS midcard in comparrison to anything else in WWE.
Analysis: Good match. Two men with similar finishers going at it with both knees flying. I question it's spot on the card, though. Once again, this could've been the killer hook opener of the night, and probably would've gotten a higher rating if it were lower on the card. I'd be surprised if 50% of the WWE fans know who Burke is, because few people watch "ECW."
*** Stars. A solid bout, a possible MotN candidate, but still too high.
Match 9: Triple H vs. Mr. Kennedy
Winner: Trips
Reason: Kennedy = Jobber to the Stars. He's on Roid Probation.
Analysis: This could be a great lead in to the main event, and an interesting clash of future and present. Perhaps we'd see Triple H reverse out of the Greenbay Plunge with a "Plunge" of his own...yeah, I think CM Punk would quit then and there...
***** Stars, potential MotN Great placement, great name value, great booking position.
Match 10: Shawn Michaels & Edge & Randy Orton vs. Ric Flair & Undertaker & Kane
Winner: Team HBRKO-R
Reason: I'm a mark for all three men, sue me.
Analysis: Wow, great clusterfnck main event. Are we in TNA? But seriously, this would be a great, action packed bout fit for the old timers like Ric and Taker. I could see Flair going in first, getting the snot kicked out of him in a way only Ric Flair could do, hot tag into Kane, who cleans house, only to get cut down with a Sweet Chin Music/Spear combo. Taker never gets the tag in, and Kane takes the fall.
***** A star-studded main event with total non-stop action (wink wink) deserves a star studded rating. The crowd would love it.
Final Score: **** 4 Star Card. I majorly rounded up for the great main event half of the evening, but the undercard booking still needs work
