The 7-volume set written by Sir Winston Churchill after WWII. It was a chronological story of the the war from the build up to the end. Fascinating reading.....and fairly honest for a politician.

I had it once - hardback with dustcovers..and foolishly sold it back in the early 90's...at a yard sale!!! OH, stupidity runs rampant!!!!

The Jalna series by Mazo de la Roche. A series of novels about the Whitoak family of Canada through the decades. (Fiction, of course.) At least one of these was made into an early Hollywood movie. She was a prolific writer and one of her most interesting books was the history of Quebec, nonfiction. My mother got me started on her Jalna series when I was a teenager. We had a huge library and I still have several books from my grandparents' collection.

Oh wow... the list is to long!!! I would redo my whole library in first editions!

I would have liked to have had a first edition of the Bible! Now wouldn't that be interesting! Before all the editing and translations!

I love the leather bound volumes, they feel so good in your hands!

I'm hoping to get either "God is Not Great" or "the God Delusion" for X-mas. They were written by Christopher Hitchen and Dr. Richard Dawkins.
