Usually the display is a single unit, held in place by few screws and a couple cables. Usually requires removing the keyboard (and mayby whole tops of laptop) to get to the screws and cables. But usually a tech can remove the only display and replace with a new one in under an hour.

The COST of the new screen is another issue. Often the screen can cost as much as $300. Then you add the labor and bench fees on top. Often you will find that the repair cost (especially if the laptop is more then two years old) is not worth it. You can often replace the laptop for a hundred or two more.

Rather than returning the laptop to Acer, looking for a local place that does computer repair. They are often cheaper, and faster, then the manufacturer.

I beg to differ with the other poster.

They are very easy to replace, a few screws and a ribbon disconnect and reconnect. And viola.

You can buy refurbished LCD monitors online for your notebook. For probably under $200. I just found one for my friend recently which he replaced on his own and he's not an IT professional.

Google like so:

replacement notebook monitor OR screen OR lcd

You should get numerous websites selling replacements.

The key is to call them and make sure you get the appropriate monitor.

But first see if it's under warranty. We often buy extended protection and warranties then forget about it. You may have bought one and forgot.
