My cell phone won't send messages anymore. It's one year old this week. I can phone, take videos and photos but messages - nothing. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be? Would getting myself a new number help or would I still have the same problem?

Hi Artemis whats the error you get whne you try to send a text message?

Basic checks you can try:

- Write a new message (instead of REPLY to an existing one)

- Check the MESSAGE CENTRE... goto MESSAGES -> SETTINGS -> TEXT MESSAGES .... each operator has a specific SMSC (Short message Service Centre) where even if a single number is deleted / changed you would not be able to send messages.

- Last but not least: try and get the same SIM checked in another handset (AND another SIM in your handset). That way you would have a better idea where the problem lies.

i) if you can make a call but it is not good quality and you cannot send texts then it might be your antenna.

ii) If you can't send texts, Your operator may have seized text messages service on your phone model or your phone may require a software / firmware update, just make sure it is the right one if your downloading from the Internet, but there should be an "update" feature on your phone
If no joy after this....
iii) Your Network might be able to help you if you can't send texts. Try contacting them.
iv) Contact your manufacturer for advice.

are you in your service area. that is one reason for the failure at times.
then you may have to reset the phone to get the txt to work.
and then call customer service to ensure they loaded the feature in yyour phone.
