Nope. I think the only football players who actually study are the players who know they have no shot of going to the NFL, CFL, European league, or whatever. And FSU normally attracts athletes that are NFL or other pro-league material.

Oh please, if you think FSU is the only school out there that has athletes that get outside "help" - you must be really ignorant. I'm sure at least every other major football school has athletes that cheat but haven't gotten caught yet, or have gotten caught and had someone cover it up for them for the sake of their school's reputation. Bowden and other university officials chose to report it to the NCAA instead of trying to cover it up.

Besides, if you actually read the official reports - not all of the players mentioned are suspended for academic reasons.

This isn't just a Florida State problem. There are quite a few collegiate athletes who cheat constantly. Heck, there are a lot of traditional students who cheat. The only difference is that FSU's ball players got caught.

Once all the glitz and pretty words and bong smoke clears the dorm, you find out in the real world that you went hundreds of thousands of dollars in dept to make friends get a piece of paper saying "you is a colaj gradiate". I have never been asked for my transcrips and once asked for a copy of my diploma. I could have put MIT on my resume and be making about twice what I'm making now, doing the same job, and no one would be the wiser.

If you know this, and some kids do, they go to the party school, and the ones with a beach are way better than the ones in the snow.

It's not how dumb they where for cheating academically, it's that they weren't using any common sense to make a smart choice by doing so. I'm not at all surprised to see that happened to Florida State & their players involved in the football program & if they learned anything from this humiliating experience is that it's better not to cheat than it is being caught for doing it.
