the on-going steroid allegations the past 5 years, players like Bonds, Clemens, McGwire, Sosa and Palmeiro, who were all Hall of Fame locks in my opinion, don't you think that a player like Dale Murphy is starting to look a lot better as a potential Hall of Famer? This guy was/is a mormon and was a non-user, non-drinker, just a clean living guy who played in the majors from 1976-1993 with the Braves (76-90), Phillies (90-92) and Rockies (93). In 2,180 Games, he had 7,960 At Bats, 2,111 hits, 350 DB's, 39 3B's, 398 HR's, 1,197 Runs, 1,266 RBI's, and a .265 BA, .346 OBP, .469 SLG% and a lot of strikeouts with 1,748.

Murphy was a 2 time NL MVP in 1982 & 1983 and a 7 time all star. 5 Time Gold Glove winner in the OF, and many more awards. Why is this guy not in the Hall of Fame? Can someone please explain this to me? He was a clean, hard-nosed player who was dominant throughout the 80's, let Murph in already, especially with all the crooks/cheaters playing today.

Ye gads!!! Vote for christians? Sorry. While good and bad personalities play a small part in voting -- and they should, at least on the extremes -- giving a guy a nod because he's christian -- or republican or volunteer fireman or whatever -- is outre. Murph was a good player. Since he began as a catcher I'm inclined to include him in the Hall. But you'll have to convince others on grounds concerning baseball and not religion.

You can't consider one player for the HOF based on the downfall of other players. I was never a Braves fan but I did like Dale Murphy. He was a very good player but I believe his numbers come up short when honoring the best in the HOF. I just don't see him getting the votes needed to make it.

Dale Murphy is a puzzlement. He should be in

What I found funny is that Paul Lo Duca just got a re-up on his contract two days before the report broke

I don't think he is still quite good enough. He had a nice run, but needed 2 or 3 more good years. One player that came to mind for me was Fred McGriff. I think his numbers are looking better for HOF consideration. I don't think he ever juiced, and was very consistent for like 15 years.
