Because Huckabee is a populist fundamentalist. Worse than that, he appears to think it's on the legit.

The Business Right doesn't like Huckabee because he might make them play by the rules and pay their own way. More importantly, he might break up the God and Greed Coalition that has been so successful for the Right by demonstrating that the Fundies can make political gains without voting against their Economic Self Interest.

Don't forget that crumblng infrastructure, job loss, an Ag policy tilted in favor of Corporate Farming and budget cuts have hit the Bible Belt hardest.

I'm a Conservative and I'm dead set against him because of his stance on taxes and illegals. And I'm far, far removed from the moneyed elite. And I don't understand why you are bringing up Bush. He has nothing to do with the question or the answers that have been given. HE IS NOT RUNNING. But to answer the question- No, Bush is not a Conservative. He is strong on defense but socially and fiscally liberal. A neo-con.

Rock on, TJ.

I don't know about the moneyed elite you speak of, but this conservative is dead set against him because he's NOT a conservative.

He raised taxes, is a lightweight on immigration issues, and loves social programs. Sounds pretty liberal to me.

Addition:
Nope....Bush is no where near a conservative. And a populist is just another word for people who support "feel-good" liberal policies.

No its because even though he dances to the pied piper on many issues, he still wants to replace the IRS with That Fair Tax organization.

Bush is not a consevative, neither is Huckabee. They are both Big Government Liberals who vote conservative on one or two social issues.

It's not just the elite who are against him. Those of us who are dead set against giving amnesty to the 20 to 38 million illegal aliens infesting our nation are against him too. He has an awful record as governor of Arkansas as doing whatever big business wants including providing illegal alien labor for Arkansas businesses. You think the big corporations would love him for that!

It might be his fundamentalist Christian beliefs and his constant showing of his faith that make the big money boys believe that he cannot defeat the Dimocrat candidate in the general election. He really gets on people's nerves who are not devout Christians.

Huckabee is doing fine without the money.

Once he starts getting real votes the money will follow.

I've heard it's because they are afraid he would be easily defeated by Hillary or Obama in the general election.

I am what you called a 'GOP moneyed elite' and I am for Huckabee. He stands for exactly what the majority of this country stands for.

Religious fundamentalism in modern ages. He can't tie up his religion and presidency. He should show he can separate.
