My daughter lives in Pearland Tx. we live in Northern Ohio When would be good time to plan a flight to Texas. We would have to fly into Houston then drive to Pearland about an hour south . (I think) Last time we fly into Houston in May and the rains were horrendous as well as a storm that kept us on the Tarmac for over two hours with delay for a forwarding flight. It was a trip from hell and don't want to experience that weather again !!!

Texas has CRAZY weather, but the best possible time would be February or March or October or November.
Call your daughter and ask her to check the weather before you come to visit.
Fly into Hobby airport not Bush. That is a long drive !
I live in Pearland Tx too

January and February are cold and rainy. May through September and sometimes October, it is too hot, and like you experienced, there may be tropical storms and flooding. November is a great month with consistently nice weather. December is okay, but the temperature is up and down so much, you won't know how to prepare for packing summer or winter clothes. The month of March and the beginning of April is a good time. Sometimes in the latter part of April, it is too hot. I hope this helps a little.

2 part answer.

First, Houston Hobby Airport is 30 min. from Pearland, Houston Bush Intercontinental is 1 hr. + depending on time of day.

Second, I recommend Mid October - Late March (2007-2008). You are much more likely to have clear skies and cool temps. ranging from 45 - 75 degrees.

Houston is greatly influenced by El Nino and La Nina. This is a La Nina year that brings torrential rains to Houston in late spring to early fall. When it becomes an El Nino year - torrential rains in Feb-Mar. with drier but hotter periods in Summer.

I can say this with confidence, since I am a native Houstonian of 49 years.

Book your trip accordingly, and welcome to Houston!

If you fly into Hobby- you are only about 15 minutes from Pearland-- Any time is a good time to come to the third coast--If you don't mind a little humidity !!!

Well the rain storms are a bit hit and miss. I would actually be more concerned with the Summer heat and humidity. We have been lucky the last few years and have had pretty mild summers. But it can get miserable Upper 90s/100s and moist.

I would recommend Spring (March/April/May) or wait until after Hurricane season (Oct/Nov). But if you dont mind the heat - June-Aug. (just keep saying that it is good for the skin)

Why are you flying into Intercontinental? That is an hour drive. Hobby Airport is maybe 15 minutes from Pearland.

As to when to fly, I'd say during the winter and early spring. You get away from the snow and slush, and here it is warmer but not hot. Also it is relatively dry.

Go in the late fall, or at Christmas time.

The weather can get pretty nasty in the summer with the heat.

Rains can cause problems anytime of the year.
