..that insists that you go on [Xmas] vacation (to his parents house), when he went on one [to parents] in summer. When wife said she didn't want to go but not stopping him from going, is 10k in debt, so asks parents for gas money to go (PA to FL) And asks sick (bad cold) wife to wrap presents, and still go. Along with 3 teens, all 3 pets that she was/is willing to stay home with. I'm trying to say this unbiasedly so I won't say more unlessed asked.

He's 44. They go every year, twice a year. Summer and Xmas to his parents.

Aside from asking his parents for gas money, sounds normal to me. Lots of folks like to see family at the holidays. I think he should pay his own gas though.

I can understand him wanting to see his parents for christmas, but she should be allowed to stay home because she is sick. the money issue should be a big consideration though, because if he has to borrow the money to go, he shouldn't go. however, the wife, just because she is sick, shouldn't want to miss Christmas with her kids, so she should go. or all should stay home and do christmas in fl next year, and save up the money so that it doesn't have to be borrowed next year.

I think the wife wants him to stay and he wants to go. I'm not sure what you want me to think. I don't think he is selfish for wanting to see his parents, and if they are willing to give gas money (realizing it does seem a bit juvenile for him to ask, but they are his parents) then what is the problem? It seems the wife doesn't really think they can afford to go and is throwing a bit of a tantrum by refusing to go. She should pack her bags and go too.
(I'm not sure where the pets factor in)

I think the two of you should quit trying to rearrange the deck chairs of your sinking ship of a marriage and start to deal with your problems.

Merry Christmas

If he is worth a dime he will stay home and support his spouse. Wife should stay home and get well.
