The words that tell me a storm is coming the most, I believe are "no movement, no shadow", and you have captured that spellbinding calm so well.

I thought you meant what words tell you a "stormy" conversation is about coming.
I was going to say it is not the words or phases that tip you off, but the cadence.
The poem sounds like the storm is the hawk's swooping on prey. I do not get the idea of a STORM "storm" from the poem's words...
"Grey clouds soften...
One rooster crowing."
I would NOT expect a storm coming from that setting. These are not "words tell you a storm is coming".
I think the storm is the prey's sudden death at the claws of the hawk.
These words aren't ominous, like a storm is brooding, at least not to me:
"I will listen...Bemused."
These words make me feel that there is no storm for the speaker. I think he is rooting for the hawk.

this would be a splash late. the main storms are already over. They weren't extremely as undesirable as this alarmist email makes them sound, however the final one DID produce the backside barometric tension ever recorded in Southern California, this is a few thing. next week is envisioned to be lots calmer.
