The reason there are buttons on the sleeves of nice shirts is because of a Belguim King. He had a bad habit of wiping his nose on his sleeve and he wanted to fix it. He had his seamstess sew buttons on his sleeves so everytime he tried to wipe his nose he scrached his face.
