Oatmeal tends to absorb flavors and amplify it in some odd way. By itself, Oatmeal pretty much tastes like cardboard. Thats why some people add sugar and some other stuff to it.
My favorite combinations are:
mango and banana
strawberry and banana
mango and peaches
banana and dark chocolate
mango and dark chocolate
those are all fruity flavors though...
it'd probably suck if you put like, anchovies and beer.

It's OK with sugar and butter- the flavored oatmeals are wonderful!

Wonderful. Sweeting the hot hot porridge with cane sugar...Then at the right moment dropping a huge pat of butter in to its midst. Finally a dollop of the coldest milk.
For one second you watch the butter sugar and milk pool on the side of the bowl, and then....only then...you dig in.

Oatmeal is good with sugar and cinnamon. Good for cholesterol.
