I want to go next April (end of April 2008). My main reasons are to see an Indians game and go to the R&R HOF. Which hotel would be best for someone traveling on a budget, not really concerned about luxury? Which area would be the best to stay in to see these two attractions? Also, if there are any other good sights to see! Much thanks.

Assuming you have transportation I would recommend the area in the link below. It's about 15 minutes from downtown and tons of restaurants within 1/2 mile of the hotels. You can find the 40+ restaurants in the area on this map. Just search for restaurants. (I tried restaurants and hotels in one search but it didn't bring everthing up.) Safe area.

Not sure what you like to do but just search for cleveland and you will find sites with suggestions. If you have time might want to check out "Cedar Point." The roller coster capital of the world. Or maybe "Kelly's Island." (Both of these are about 1.5 hours west of Cleveland.

Also check out "Cleveland.com" It will have a list of all the events going on around town when your there. (Look in hte entertainment section I believe.

It sounds as if you won't have a car and are interested in the most reasonable hotels. Your best bets might be the Holiday Inn Express Downtown, Holiday Inn Select City Centre Lakeshore and the Comfort Inn Downtown. The Days Inn Downtown is another possibility although it's not as well located. These websites might help you:

The Cleveland Convention and Visitors Bureau website may prove helpful in general:

http://www.positivelycleveland.com/

The downtown Cleveland and downtown Cleveland hotel maps should prove useful:

I haven't been in the Comfort Inn or the Holiday Inn Express, but the Holiday Inn Lakeshore seems well maintained.

Other things to do downtown include the Great Lakes Science Center, which has an Omnimax theater, and is right next door to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

You might enjoy the House of Blues:

You could check the events at Quicken Loans Arena. The Cavs hopefully will be in the play-offs during your visit.

You might want to take a Lolley the Trolley tour or a walking tour of downtown:

There may be events at Playhouse Square or at the Wolstein Center.

If you don't mind a short bus ride, it might be worthwhile, depending upon your interests, to check out University Circle cultural attractions.

The Cleveland Orchestra is one of the premier cultural attractions in the world:

Other attractions at University Circle include:

Cleveland Museum of Art, which is free but is undergoing a major renovation

The Crawford Auto Museum

The Cleveland Museum of Natural History, which has one of the best planetariums in the country

http://www.cmnh.org/site/atthemuseum_planetariumandobservatory.aspx

Cleveland Botanical Garden with its Glasshouse

The Cleveland Metropolitan Zoo and Rain Forest also might be fun, especially on a nice day (it's close to downtown; RTA bus 20C will take you there and back from downtown):

You might want to check out the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (an all day pass might be a bargain if you plan to leave downtown):

Have fun and GO TRIBE!!!

There is a Holiday Inn on Lakeside Road which is within walking distance, and pretty reasonable in rates. I think you can get a room for less than $100. Plus, it is right on the water and is close to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and Science Center. It will probably be among the cheapest in the downtown area.
